The session, which
encompasses various topics on atmospheric dynamics, will include a
special

<p style="margin-bottom: 0cm; margin-top: 0pt;">M-07 Advances in
Atmospheric Dynamics</p>
<br>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0cm; margin-top: 0pt;"><strong></strong>This
session focuses on the application of
geophysical fluid dynamics and turbulence theory to the understanding
of the atmospheric circulation and climate. This includes the
interaction between dynamics and other processes such as radiation, as
well as the influence of topography and other boundary asymmetries.
The emphasis will be on dry and moist dynamics of synoptic to planetary
scale atmospheric circulations, both in the troposphere and
stratosphere. Contributions based on theoretical, diagnostic, and
modeling (either realistic or idealized) studies are invited on a range
of topics including, but not limited to, wave and cyclone growth and
evolution, eddy-mean flow interactions and possible dynamical regimes
arising from it, the dynamics of storm tracks and jet streams, the
dynamics of the stratospheric polar vortex, and its interaction with
the troposphere, topographic and/or oceanic influence on large-scale
atmospheric circulation, interactions between moist convection and
large-scale flows and dynamical implications of aerosol-cloud-climate
interactions. <br>
</p>
<p>Contributions are sought also for a Special Session in honour of
Emeritus Professor Bruce Morton, who has been a leading figure in
Australian Meteorology. The Special Session will focus on the structure
and<br>
dynamics of subtropical or tropical weather systems that are influenced
by deep dry convection such as<br>
heat lows, inland troughs, convergence lines, low-latitude cold fronts,
dry lines and sea breezes.</p>
