Dear colleagues,
We would like to draw your attention to the announcement of NCAR/
IMAGe Theme-of-The-Year on Geophysical Turbulent Phenomena (http://
www.image.ucar.edu/ThemeOfTheYear/2008/ ). We would be grateful if
you circulate this announcement to colleagues, departments, and other
interested parties.
The Theme-of-the-Year (TOY) for 2008 is designed to support the
geophysical and mathematical communities in this effort through a
series of workshops exploring turbulence from these different
perspectives with the goal of increasing the interconnections among
theory, computation and experiments. The final activity of this TOY
is a summer school (partially funded through the NSF Collaborative
Mathematics in the Geosciences Program) with the intent of bringing
new researchers into this field and giving them a multidisciplinary
perspective.
The first Workshop on Turbulent Theory and Modeling will be held on
February 27th-February 29th.
The following website
http://www.image.ucar.edu/Workshops/TOY2008/focus1
is available for on-line submission of an abstract. Some funding is
available to support attendance with special emphasis given to
graduate students, young researchers and members of under-represented
groups.
